Room 11 is full of busy beavers--not actually but we are busy, and we are learning about figurative language. Small groups are exploring all the corners of the world while researching ecosystems on our planet. This is our Science focus but also good practice in working cooperatively with others toward a common goal. Groups will teach the rest of us about the animals, vegetation, climate etc. of their ecosystem. Individually students have been working through the Scientific Method for their Science Fair project. These are due next week and we are all excited to see what questions about the world everyone came up with, and if they found the answers they were anticipating. It's Love of Reading month and all manner of book lovers will be sharing time with students to share books. Responding to text and referencing it in our writing is a challenging skill that we are working on in our informative and explanatory writing. If we have 24 students and 11 of them are girls, what fraction of the class would that be? This is just one of the problems we are working on in Math as we explore fractions. Students continue to work on their basic facts; they should have a good grasp of these to continue with all our future Math work. In between all this hard work we are lucky to have TSO come to share music with us, the Fine Arts Dept. share about Japan and India and of course our recorder lessons with Dr. John and our personal growth lessons with Mrs. Bell and Mrs. Nicol. Did I say BUSY? Have a great month. We love our Robins families!
Coming in March: benchmark ATI assessments, end of third quarter, Spring Break
